The truth behind the poster

“The Doorbell Is the Enemy”
German Shepherds were bred to guard the flock and warn of strangers, so a ring at the door is exactly the alarm they were made to raise. Every time someone leaves after the barking, the dog learns that it worked. Teaching a calm "place" on a mat when the bell rings, rewarded every time, turns the alarm into a routine.
