The truth behind the poster

“Small Dog, Big Duty”
Yorkies were bred in the mills and mines of northern England to catch rats, and they still have a full-size terrier inside: bold, alert and quick to sound the alarm. Because they are small, barking is often laughed off instead of trained. Teaching a "quiet" cue and meeting the mail carrier calmly works as well on a Yorkie as on any big dog.
