The truth behind the poster

“Nose: Overrides the ears. Always.”
Beagles were bred as scent hounds to follow hares in packs, so once the nose finds something, the ears stop working. Keep them on a leash or behind a secure fence, since recall is hard even for well-trained Beagles. They love food and gain weight easily, so measure meals and count the treats. Those long ears trap moisture: check and clean them weekly to prevent infections. The baying is part of the package.
